Whether you’re looking for a short term, temporary or permanent job, feeling appreciated and supported, when you finally start your new role is just as important as your pay and working conditions.
Here are some of our top tips on how to find the best cleaning companies to work for and what to look for when you’re applying for those all important roles.
Get a feel for the company before you apply
The best companies or agencies will always have genuine positions available. They will make time to discuss the most suitable options and opportunities for you. This is a great indicator of a good company to work for. Do your research online. Websites such as Indeed and Glassdoor offer organisation reviews from past and present employees.
Zero, permanent or fixed hours contract?
Sadly, operatives working in the commercial cleaning industry aren’t always looked after in the same way as other industries. There are often many zero hour contracts, and while these may suit some people, they don’t benefit most.
If the job advert that you’re applying for doesn’t state the amount of hours you will be required to work in a contract, don’t be afraid to email or ask in a call.
What training will I receive?
Good cleaning companies will offer training before a role begins, usually with a detailed induction on site. Health and safety and COSHH training is often provided ensuring you have everything you need to feel confident in starting your new cleaning job!
